Dan gives a quick look at how he creates an icon in The Anatomy of an Icon.

Most of it looks pretty straightforward, but what surprises me the most is that he starts with a canvas of 16x16 to double it’s size later to get the 32x32 icon. I never thought about it that way, but then again, I’m not a web-designer either :)
